A classic Hungarian dish featuring tender chicken in a rich, creamy paprika sauce. Serve it over noodles or rice for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Season chicken with salt and pepper, then brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add onions to the pot and cook until soft.
  4. Stir in paprika and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Return chicken to the pot, add chicken broth, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in sour cream, and serve.

Notes

  • Use bone-in chicken for better flavor.
  • Do not boil after adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
  • Adjust paprika to taste.
