Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup eggnog (store-bought or homemade, chilled)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons eggnog
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs until smooth and slightly fluffy. Stir in the eggnog, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently fold until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan. Tap lightly on the counter to release air bubbles. Bake for 50-60 minutes, checking with a toothpick starting at 50 minutes.
  • Let the bread rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, eggnog, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust consistency with more eggnog if needed.
  • Once the bread is fully cooled, drizzle the glaze on top and spread gently if desired.
  • Slice and serve once the glaze has set. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freeze slices for longer storage.
  • Notes
